Registration deadlines are 14 days before the workshop date unless otherwise noted. Reservations will be held upon receipt of payment to BRSMY, 2001 S Main St, Suite 106, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

Course prerequisites are listed with each program description. If no prerequisites are listed, then none are required. All hours (the entire workshop) listed must be attended for successful completion of each course. To obtain a full refund, notification of cancellation must be received 72 hours in advance of the workshop by phone, email, or in writing. Almost all programs advertised here are taught by an NCBTMB approved provider.  CE classes taught by an NCBTMB approved provider should meet NCBTMB standards for CE classes and CE hours earned will be usable for NCBMTB renewals.  If an NCBMTB approved provider number is not advertised under a class' title in its description, you may call 540-552-2177 for more information about its provider status.

Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training

This training is geared towards developing a personal practice inclusive of asana, meditation, and philosophy aimed at creating balance within the body, mind, and heart. From one’s personal practice Teaching evolves. The Teaching component includes alignment, safe assisting and adjustments, and teaching methodology. This course is for those who wish to learn or deepen their practice and for those who wish to learn the art of Teaching.

Advanced Balance: Reflexology Certification Program

NCBTMB approved CE provider # 450101-06


Fri, Sat & Sun, March 5-7, 2010 - 18 or 30 CE Hours
Cost: $300 with no certification, 18 CE Hours or $350 if becoming certified, 30 CE Hours

Fri: 5:30pm-9:30pm, Sat & Sun: 9:30am-5:30pm
Instructor: Elisha Reygle, NCMT

This course will give you a thorough understanding and background of reflexology. It will cover hands, feet, and ears, with most of the focus on feet. We will go over why reflexology is effective, locating points, elements of meridian theory, common ailments and natural remedies, exercises, business practices, great techniques, and plenty more. Best of all, you’ll learn how to confidently practice reflexology and get to feel the results of this relaxing and therapeutic modality first hand, foot, and ear! The course grants 18 CE Hours if you do not choose to become certified. Upon completion of the course you may send in twelve documented sessions and the completed written exam along with an additional $50 certification fee to become certified. If you do, you will receive an additional 12 CE Hours (for a total of 30 CE Hours). The workshop includes a 1 hour lunch break on Saturday and Sunday.

Elisha Reygle, NCMT, has been practicing reflexology for over ten years. She is an instructor of a range of subjects—including Reflexology—at the Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga. She brings a wealth of experience practicing reflexology on infants, children, grownups, the elderly, and dying. Her passion for the modality ensures an enjoyable and playful learning environment, while nearly a decade of teaching experience guarantees her class will be kept on track to learn an incredible amount of information in an organized, interactive, and memorable way.

Hot Stones Massage

NCBTMB approved CE provider # 450101-06


Sat, March 20, 2010 - 7 CE Hours
Cost: $140

Sat: 10am-6pm
Instructor: Victoria Stone, NCMT

Course includes explanation of the hot stone use, cautions, benefits and care of the stones.  During the workshop you will give and receive a full-body sequence.  You will be able to incorporate hot stones safely, effectively, and therapeutically in any massage session, or use it as a stand-alone spa technique.  Prerequisites: 120 hrs. Swedish massage training, CMT/LMT. You will need to order an approved set of massage stones before the class meets.

Victoria Stone, NCMT , director of Blue Ridge School of Massage, has been in practice for 20 years. She has 12 years of teaching experience in various massage modalities, massage theory and practice, anatomy and medical massage, as well as certifications in Pregnancy Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Basic Cranial Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage, Watsu, and is a registered Yoga Instructor.

Myofascial Massage Techniques

for the Pelvis and Sacrum

Instructor: Chris Pohowsky, Certified Rolfer

The pelvic girdle and sacrum are often described as the "keystone" of the body. In every day living the pelvic girdle must endure vectors of movement and force in multiple planes. It requires having a high degree of stability, yet must have appropriate balance and mobility to allow us to walk comfortably and support a healthy spine.

This course will explore the myofascial relationships within the pelvic girdle and the larger connections to legs and torso. Students will learn to recognize some common imbalances of the pelvic girdle and many practical myofascial techniques geared to restore balance and healthy function.

Chris Pohowsky, Certified Rolfer, has been practicing Rolfing Structural Integration in Blacksburg for five years and teaches Myofascial Massage at Blue Ridge School. Chris' experiences with Rolfing Movement, Yoga and Pilates brings a playful and experiential approach to teaching and bodywork, blending movement and manual techniques to further the goals of integrating the body as a whole.
